Thomas Dee Husky was born on August 20, 1960, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to Jessie H. and Frank D. Huskey.

Thomas’ dad, Frank, began his career at the Knoxville Zoo in 1964, where he became the primary caregiver for the resident elephants. He expressed his deep affection for the animals in a News-Sentinel article, stating, “I love ’em. I don’t know why; I just love ’em to death.”

While details about Thomas’ early life are scarce, court records indicate that he faced charges of Military Desertion on November 9, 1979.

On August 13, 1980, Thomas married his fiancée, Sherrie Ann, in Morristown, Tennessee. Initially, the couple lived with his parents at 3617 Crawford Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, this address has since been replaced by a storage facility. Thomas and Sherrie reportedly had two children, but specific details about their birth dates are currently unavailable.
