On February 25, 1975, 9-year-old Marcia left her home to drop off Girl Scout cookies to her neighbor across the street. 33 days later she was found raped and strangled in a neighbor’s garage.

What happened to Marcia and why?

Marcia was born on March 28, 1965, to her parents, Virginia and Charles Trimble. Together with her family, including her older brother Charles “Chuck” Trimble, they resided at 4009 Copeland Drive in the Green Hills area of Nashville, Tennessee. Described as a quiet and well-behaved child, Marcia was a part of a close-knit family.

Although Marcia’s neighborhood was generally regarded as safe, an unsettling incident occurred on December 30, 1974. An 18-year-old man exposed himself to Marcia and several other children from the neighborhood. Frightened, the children quickly retreated to their respective homes, while the man reportedly fled the scene. A police report was promptly filed regarding the incident.

On February 25, 1975, around 5:30 pm, Marcia told her mother, Virginia, that she planned to deliver some Girl Scout cookies to their neighbor, Marie Maxwell, who resided across the street.
